Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Set for January 18-25

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, a response to Christ's prayer “that they all may be one" (John 17:21), is an eight-day period of prayer in which all Christians are invited to participate on January 18-25.

This year’s theme is “We Saw the Star in the East, and We Came To Worship Him” (Mt 2:2). The theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2022 was chosen by the Middle East Council of Churches. More than ever, in these difficult times, we need a light that shines in the darkness and that light, Christians proclaim, has been manifested in Jesus Christ.

A special section has been created on the diocesan website for the commemoration. There, you will find a variety of information and resources in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Arabic.

Maine Catholics Invited to Participate in
“9 Days for Life” Prayer Vigil
on January 19-27


 

Maine Catholics are invited to join thousands of Catholics across the country in nine days of prayer for life and human dignity.

“9 Days for Life” will run from Wednesday, January 19, through Thursday, January 27, and is a novena for the protection of life. Each day’s intention is accompanied by a short reflection and suggested actions to help build a culture of life.

Participants can download the novena, sign up to receive daily prayers via email or text message, and view a variety of resources and materials by visiting www.9DaysforLife.com or www.respectlife.org/9-days-for-life.

Materials are available in English and Spanish.

The novena is sponsored and organized by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities. This marks the 10^th year of the commemoration, which serves as an opportunity for recollection and reparation in observation of the anniversary of Roe v. Wade (the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the United States). The overarching intention of the novena is the end to abortion.

ROSARY

Come say the Rosary with us. 
You can join us on the weekends a 1/2 hour before Mass followed by 15 minutes of quiet time to prepare for Mass.   
Also after weekday masses - immediately following Mass.
On Wednesdays, at 9:00 am and Tuesday at 9:00 am with Benediction.

SANCTUARY LAMP

The Sanctuary Lamp before the Blessed Sacrament burns this week for the Glory of God.

SEVEN SISTERS APOSTALATE

Seven women spiritually united in prayer, each offer-ing one hour of prayer, one day each week, solely for the intentions of the Pastor.

The hour within the given day can be flexible, and the manner of prayer is the gift of the Seven Sister.

The seven are formed so that each day of the week the Priest has the gift of intercessory prayer. The bond of prayer strengthens the Priest, the seven, the Church the community, and brings sus-taining grace.

Additional groups of Seven can be formed as the Apostolate continues to grow.

Any woman of the Parish is welcome to participate.

HOLY HOUR 

Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hour of Adoration and Benediction is held every Monday evening at St. Vincent de Paul Church 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
 

ROSARY BEFORE MASS

Come say the Rosary with us.  Begins 30 minutes before each all Masses at St. Vincent de Paul and St. Mary Star of the Sea.
 

CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY

The Divine Mercy Chaplet is recited on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 3:00 pmat St. Vincent de Paul, Bucksport.

The next chaplet is Sunday, December 19.
